Can I convert filesystems?

Any easy way to convert to reiserfs from my current ext3 without recompiling the kernel?

It's not a matter of recompiling the kernel actually, but formatting the partition to reiserfs.

AFAIK there's no way to convert between ext3 and reiserfs; I ended up backing up my data then doing a mkreiserfs on the partition. As mentioned by gbonvehi just make sure your kernel supports reiserfs too!

cheers

Jamie

PS - if there is a tool I'd love to know where to find it...
