Question can't write on my WD usb drive

Dear all,

I've just bought a WD usb hard disk of 2T.
As regular user I can mount the disk but I can not go in the mounted directory.
As root I can get in, but I can't do mkdir.

In front of the device we can see a drawing which seem indicate that it is locked.
Does that can explain my issue?
Do I need to use it first on windows to unlocked it?

Thanks in advance,

Eric.

Hi again,

I got it.
It's a ntfs file system and it seems that with the regular mount operation it's not allowed to get access to the partition.
With ntfs-3g the problem is solved but it can only be mounted bu root.
Peace,

Eric.
