Can't remove a module

Is it standard practice for Slackware not to allow removal of modules?
I had ndiswrapper listed in lsmod and tried with modprobe -r and rmmod to remove it but it was persistent. Need this to avoid:
Failed to read scan data : Resource temporarily unavailable
by removal ane reinsert or so I was told.

I expect that something is still using this module. Does adding --verbose to the modprobe command give more informations?
Code:
modprobe -r -v ndiswrapper
Perhaps there is information with the docs that might be enlightening: /usr/doc/ndiswrapper-kernel-1.59
There is also the ndiswrapper-utils package.

EDIT:
I am assuming you are using the SBo package for ndiswrapper, but that may not be the case.

Tried your suggestion and this time it was removed.
Put it back and used both rmmod & modprobe -r at separate replacements and it did the job all 3 times. Thanks for use of UR magic.

You are welcome, but I think the magic is that what ever was busy using the module when you tried to unload it earlier, was done with it when unloading succeeded.
