can't get nics working, on gateway

I just switched back to linux (Slackware 9.0) on one of my servers from bsd, this machine has dual nics; one netgear fa311 pci and linksys etherfast pci (i believe), both of these nics have been used successfully with Slackware 9.0. Since i'm trying to use this machine as a gateway i need both nics to be detected, when i run 'netconfig' and prob for networking devices it finds the one which uses 'tulip.o' module (i think is the linksys one) but not the other, after configuring this card for dhcp it still doesn't seem to work.

How can i configure Slackware 9.0 to use 2 nics?
I tried google and searched this forum and came up with no results

how do I turned on kernel options i don't understand how to do this and can't find any documentation on the subject?

thanks seejay

'ifconfig -a' gives u a list of all available network interfaces, does it show both eth0 and eth1?

There is a IP configuration for network adapters in /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf

yes, 'ifconfig -a' show both interfaces, but i don't see an rc.inet1.conf in /etc/rc.d/, but there is a 'rc.inet1' and 'rc.inet2'
