Buggy system after resume, console shows "@new-host-3:"

Occasionally after I wake my computer up from suspend I will be unable to open any new applications in KDE, though I can still use whatever was open before I suspended.
If I drop to a console it gives me david@new-host-3 instead of my usual hostname. If I do `echo $HOSTNAME` it will give my usual hostname. The problem is generally fixed only by rebooting.
Anyone know what's up? I set up my hostname using netconfig, if that matters. I am running slackware-current, though I haven't yet added the last two updates.

Ewww. Are you suspending the machine using pm-utils or some custom script or such?

pm-utils, I used /etc/acpi/acpi-handler.sh to execute pm-suspend when I press the power button on my laptop.

I don't see how any of the included sleep hooks could possibly reset the hostname; do you have any custom hooks installed? Next time it happens, have a look at the dmesg output and /var/log/pm-suspend.log and see if any clues are there.

Is this on 12.2 or -current?
