Buffer underrun protection in DVDs.

Hi:
I've always used 'driveropts=burnfree' to burn DVDs with cdrecord. However, according to this post , buffer underrun protection does not apply to DVDs. But this contradicts wikipedia's article "Buffer underrun":

Quote:

Therefore, a technique called buffer underrun protection was implemented by various individual CD/DVD writer vendors, under various trademarks, such as Plextor BurnProof, Nero UltraBuffer, Yamaha SafeBurn, JustLink, and Seamless Link.
Have DVD writers buffer underrun protection or not?

kernel 2.6.21.5, slackware 12.0

Try it out, but you have to use cdrecord to burn the DVDs. I've only had it work with CDs not DVDs. Most burners support buffer underrun protection, so if you can get it to work with DVDs it would be great.

Thank you. I use growisofs to burn multisession DVDs, because cdrecord 2.01, the one I had up to now, won't do it. I now have version 3.01, but I did not even read the man page yet.

It may be that growisofs doesn't support burnfree and cdrecord doesn't support burning DVDs very well yet.
