Bridging with lxc-containers problem.
Hi all, I need some help with bridging my internal interface eth0, my network is like this...
ppp0 ..dial-up modem eth0 ..my internal network 192.168.0.1 My firewall works fine normally, my headless machine (server) 192.168.0.2, can ping out to the net and I can log into it from my work station. I decided to try lxc-containers, which I managed to setup and get it up and running, just my problem is getting the container to ping out to the net. I followed the tutorial from Ponce's blog but I can't seem to get my bridge working for my container. My desktop is acting as the gateway and I was trying to setup the bridge for the lxc-container on (eth0 192.168.0.1) which I keep the ip static. http://slackware.ponce.cc/blog/ |
maybe you should talk about this there :) I hope moderators will be tolerant ;)
I think you opted for the solution "containers on the same network segment as the host" as you have used 192.168.0.2 also for the container address, but in the example the network has a separate gateway that leads to the interwebs, while in your case you got an additional interface on the same machine, ppp0. can you please post the output of ifconfig typed as root on your desktop (hide with asterisks your ppp0 ip address) and the /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf file of the container (not of the "desktop")? I seem to understand that the container is hosted on the same machine (the "desktop") too, correct me if I'm wrong ;) |
I must have done something wrong setting up the bridge because I set it up again this morning and it works fine :). Your blog was very helpful Ponce, just my
mistake setting up the bridge. Oh one question, if I put the packages in /var/cache/lxc/slackware/cache-13.37-i486/ from my slackware dvd, I wouldn't need to download them off the slackware mirror? |
yes, but, as you may have seen, it's just a bunch of megs for the default minimal install (thanks to vbatts). :)

If it's just a bunch of megs i'll leave it to download from slackware mirror then. :)
