Bootup error " INIT: Cannot execute ....

Hi all,

Recently i was trying with Swaret and i change instead of download from current i change the config file to download from 9.1. I did a --upgrade -a everthing was fine at the beginning after one day when I get back from work, I saw some error in the terminal I forgot what error it was. Then I close the terminal and try to open a new one but it tell me file not found. I did a reboot and was not able to boot up anymore. These are the errors:

INIT: cannot execute "/etc/rc.d/rc.S"
INIT: Entering runlevel: 4
INIT: cannot execute "/etc/rc.d.rc.M"
INIT: cannot execute "/etc/rc.d.rc.4"
INIT: cannot execute "/sbin/agetty"
INIT: cannot execute "/sbin/agetty"
INIT: cannot execute "/sbin/agetty"
INIT: cannot execute "/sbin/agetty"
INIT: cannot execute "/sbin/agetty"

INIT: Id "c6" respawning too fast " disable for 5 minutes
INIT: no more processes left in this runlevel
INIT: cannot execute "/sbin/agetty"
INIT: cannot execute "/sbin/agetty"
INIT: cannot execute "/sbin/agetty"
INIT: cannot execute "/sbin/agetty"

and this keep repeating.

Please advise ! Although I going to plan to reformat in this case but i still hope to get my data back and I am curious what went wrong.

Thanks in advance.

Regards
Sif

I learnt the hard way too not to update the kernel bits of Slack. It seems a reinstall is inevitable... however, you can still rescue your data using some rescue CD distro like Timos' Rescue or Knoppix.
