when i boot the system it does everythink fine untill it gets to this part!

apm: Disabled-apm is not SMP safe

It usually indicates that the kernel doesn't
support the filesystem you used for installing.

Cheers,

i used EXT3 using cfdisk from the install, formated the partions and did a clean install

is there any way i can select a dif boot kernel with out reinstaling it all as i selected the one used on the install as that normaly works for me.

thanks

I hope you made a bootdisk when installing slackware?
First lesson of Linux, ALWAYS make a bootdisk.

And as for the problem with the kernel-panic, I had the same problem as you and this is what I did:
1. Disable PnP-OS in BIOS, this should eliminate the "..is not SMP safe" error.
2. Boot using the install-cd, enter cfdisk and check that everything seems ok.
3. Do a file-systems-ceck 'fsck [your-root-partition]' (i.e /dev/hda1)
When i did this fsck found a whole bunch of problems with the root-partition and repaired them (bad blocks and stuff). After that i rebooted and it worked like a charm again =)

PnP OS was allready turned of in bios
i did what u said, checked my partitions in cfdisk
booted up wiht my bootdisk, ran fsck -f came up with /dev/hda2: recovering jernal
but eveyrthink elce passes fine.

reboot and same error message as in 1st post
apm: Biosversion 1.2 flags 0x07 (Driver Version 1.13)
apm: Disabled-apm is not SMP safe
VFS: can not open root device 03:03
kernel panic VFS:unable to mount roor 03:03

so i reboot with bootdisk again and run fsck and again there a problem with the jernal. so somethink is amis here i have swop on the first part of the drive and my file system after my swop which is about 512mb. so notlike its stuck at the front of the drive or anythink!

why does it boot ok to install and on the boot disk but not from the kernel i have installed from the install.

i cant think what can be casuing this problem, i had turbolinux on the system before i decided to upgrade to slackware 9.1 for my server and it ran fine for ayear and half.

is there any known bug with ext3 and the version of kernel on the slack CD?

check your /etc/lilo.conf and see if your trying to mount / to the correct partition check /etc/fstab too.
