Unhappy Boot disk broken - Can't boot

I had been using a boot disk (no boot managers are loaded) to boot my slackware (10.1), but the boot disk is broken now, and i can't boot slack. How can I use my slack again ?

put CD #1 into the drive and boot into your install, the screen should tell you exactly how............and then type

makebootdisk

and syslinux should set you up from there..........

Hi tesa ,

Well for a quick boot it quick,

1) Configure on your bios booting from CDROM
2) Put your disk #1 on your dcrom drive
3) when starting slack follow the instructions, I cannot remember well but should be something like this just red the the example and put it:

root=/dev/hda2 ro

NOTE: hda2 assuming that hda2 is your /
if is a ata disk should be sda2

thanks for your suggestions, but I use a "/boot" partition separate from my "/" partition. In this stance, should I indicate my "/boot" partition for the part :

root=/dev/hda_my_boot_partition ro

Thanks in advance

No in that case because you're booting with CD's kernel using that disk as root partition.

I'm on my slack box again I tried as you've suggested; giving kernel parameters to the boot prompt by booting from the installation cd, and after booting slack, I've made another bootdisk.

Thanks everyone for helping.
