[SOLVED] BOINC on my slackware box

Hi,

I just setup slackware 12.2 on my computer, and I will like to install BOINC on it. How do I install and setup BOINC on it?

I used to have Mandriva 2008 running on the computer which is now Slackware.

The configuration I wish to have is to have BOINC on an independent user (not root), and have it run as a service which starts every time the computer is turned on.

I am a slackware newbie, I'll appreciate any assistance or guidance. On the BOINC site and others, I wasn't able to identify the required information.

Check these out (I got them from Google with the query: boinc on slackware) --

* BOINC Installation Guide -- this will tell you how to install

* rc.boinc -- and here is an rc script for Slackware which will start BOINC up at boot.

I don't see any instructions in the BOINC site, specific regarding Slackware.

How do you proceed to install BOINC on slackware?

Look at the sections titled "The Berkeley Installer" and "Building From Source". Either of those methods should work fine with Slackware.
