Block URLS/websites or Allow only Specific Sites in a Slack
Hi Tux-Friends...
I am try to block usage of Porn and social n/w sites during work. I am the jr. system admin. I need help and advice regarding this. Firewall ==> How to block a specific set of URLS/websites ==> how to allow only a set of 5-10 websites Eg: I need to block the usage of porn________________.com. but allow worksite.com. Is there any software available for this purpose? If yes can i control and customize a page to display instead of the blocked site? Can this be implemented in Windows? Any suggestions welcome.. |
I wrote an article once that might apply to your situation: http://alien.slackbook.org/dokuwiki/...lackware:proxy .
The filtering software used there is Dansguardian. You implement the content filter/proxy on a Linux server and it will block unwanted URLs for any client, which can be Linux, Windows or other OSes. Eric |
+1 for DansGuardian
I installed it (originally based on AlienBob's article) a few times. You can configure groups in it, like "Children", "Young Adults", "Adults" or other levels of access, each with its own filter. You can do a mixture of blacklists (all that is forbidden), whitelists (all that is allowed), and it can "read the page" before passing it, checking for unwanted / prohibited phrases. It is especially popular in school networks etc. |
Thanks Alien Bob..

I'm posting a new thread in Firewall and networking section. I'm planing on using Clear OS for content filtering and load balancing. Please do visit there and check it out.. I will close this post as solved in two days time. Thank you for your support.. Please do a follow up for this topic here http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...errerid=546861 |
