Blank Screen after Kernel Compile

Hi,
I think that subject of this thread explains my n00b problem pretty well.
I know what I did wrong, but I can't boot into linux now. My vmlinuz.old seems to have the same problem (I see only blank screen after boot). But I don't know why...

So my question is: do anyone know how to boot into linux without any boot cd's or diskettes? I might use some program which can write into linux partition under windows so I could replace bad kernel file...

Thanks in advance. I hope this makes any sense :)

Actually you can't see anything but you're there, so try blindless to log-in and startx that would get you in.
You can boot with Slackware cd 2 (which is designed to be used as a rescue cd) and chroot to your hard disk, there recompile the kernel and update LILO (if you don't know how to use chroot, read it's man page).

ok, retrace your steps and post exactly what you did............

AND ......did you buy the Slack 10 CD set.............if so
CD#2 is a live CD.........you can boot up......mount the / partition and fix the problem.........

<edit/>

did you have 3d accel drivers installed??
whenever you re-compile a kernel..........nvidia drivers at least need to be re-installed.........

thanks, I'll try to get there blindfold :)
I'm entering X by default at startup, so maybe I have to wait till I see them. Unless I have to reinstall my nvidia driver...

Last chance would be Slack CD#2, which I don't have here :(
thanks for help!

Bingo....Anytime you upgrade your kernel you will need to rebuild the nvidia driver before starting X.

Well, I entered my Slack via CD#2 rescue and recompiled kernel with new .config settings (I'm compiling kernel 2.6.8.1 and CONFIG_FRAMEBUFFER_CONSOLE=m can be only loaded as module. Is it normal?)
Recompiling was quite fast. Is it normal? And guess what: I still get that blank screen...

Do anyone know where is the problem?
