Blank screen after installing Slack 10?
Got slack 10 installed and setup, rebooted and all I get is a blank screen with a blinking cursor. I chose not to install lilo but the previous installs I had lilo. Is lilo eliminated when you repartition or format? I had previously chose to put it on the MBR so that may be what is wrong?
I have went through the bios with a fine tooth comb looking for something there and cannot find any reason this would be happening. I can boot a boot cd with no problems. If I boot from cd, how can I check the harddrive to see if the install went awry or if its ok? that way I will know if its a harddrive problem or not. I got no error messages during install or setup. Thanks for any replies. :) 3.2 P4 asus P4P800 80 gig seagate HD 512mb ram msi dvd/cd-r |
the lilo isn't setup right then, i would go back through the install and install lilo, so the installer can config lilo to slack's needs.
you can also boot off a startup disk if you have one, and then run liloconfig when you get it started. |
Knoppix to the rescue!
Download from here and install LILO |
Boot with your Slackware CD and may be try liloconfig, or change lilo.conf.
But you said you didnt install lilo. Cant see what the problem is then. |
