Bing as startingpoint for webbrowser

When I open my terminal as user and I type 'seamonkey start' I get Microsofts Bing as startingpoint. I didn't ask for it, its not in my settings for Seamonkey. I didn't ask for it.. Howe can this happen?

You have unfortunately left us without enough information to
give you an intelligent answer.

I think this is the same as I get when entering "start.com" as a URL in Seamonkey - this gets me Microsoft BING and in Firefox gets me Windows Live. Whois reports start.com is a Microsoft domain.

Just type "seamonkey" without the start. Then you'll get seamonkey's start page by default.

It must be different in different countries, because here when I issue

Code:
mingdao@silas:~$ seamonkey start
I get the attached ... it's got start in the URL bar, and Done in the
progress bar, and the window is blank. Of course, the Chinese don't
pay Mickey$oft for their software, which might have something to do
with it.

Running Slackware-12.2 with seamonkey-1.1.14-i486-1_slack12.2

And if you want your terminal back, type "seamonkey &"

Apparently when passing a parameter to seamonkey, that parameter is interpreted as a web URL address. Most browsers today are configurable to parse a partial web address into a formal address. Therefore 'start' gets transformed by Seamonkey into www.start.com.

Typing www.start.com in a browser location bar results in a redirect to www.bing.com. Apparently the Microsoft dweebs bought the www.start.com domain name and installed a redirect to www.bing.com.

No conspiracy or evil here. Just clever market manipulation by the Microsoft folks and a misunderstanding how to start the seamonkey browser .
