bind, named, and DNS

Since I travel extensively, and I only visit a few sights, I've been thinking it would be a good idea to have my own local nameserver.

The few posts I've seen on this have me confused, and not able to surf...

I have chmod the rc.bind file, it does start.

But no DNS resolution. I know I have to modify resolv.conf, but what do I put in there?

Plus, after every dhcp request, it resets resolv.conf, even if I uncomment "keep resolv" in the rc.inet1.conf file.

Help?

*** EDIT ***

I have used Alien Bob's rc.bind script, now I get:
Code:

bash-3.1# /etc/rc.d/rc.bind start
Starting named:  /usr/sbin/named -u daemon
bash-3.1# /etc/rc.d/rc.bind status
named status:  /usr/sbin/rndc status
rndc: connect failed: connection refused
bash-3.1#

OK...So what's up?

It's easily done in Slackware. Follow this thread.
