Cliff Notes:
1. new to slackware
2. installed 9.1 once today
3. want to reinstall but cant remove the old partitions
4. it seems only a fraction of my 9 gig HD is showing up in fdisk because my
older partitions are using up all the space ?
I installed Slackware 9.1 for my first time today. I wanted to start over from scratch and reinstall again so I can install all the packages off of Disk 2 ( I am sure there is a easier way to do that but I couldnt find it). This is where I ran into my problems. I booted off Disk 1 again and proceeded to following the same install instructions
So I went into fdisk to delete the old partitions and redo new ones. I have a 9 gb drive but when I do a "p" in fdisk to print the partition table it says this
Code:
Disk /dev/hda: 6448 MB, 6448619520 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 784 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
I recall having more than 784 cylinders when I first partitioned. I'ved been trying ot find a solutions for hours on how to delete all those old paritions and free back up those 9 gigs so I can re-partition then and install slackware again but I've had no luck. I've tried booting off a win98 disk and doing a fdisk /mbr ( saw someone mention that )
Any help would be great. If you need more info just ask ( I am a beginner so I am not quite sure what else to post ). Thanks !
