.bashrc not sourced

I have created ~/.bashrc with the following commands:

alias la='ls -a'
alias ll='ls -l'
alias ..='cd ..'

I signed out and the signed in again but the aliases are not available. Also, I started up KDE and opened konsole, hoping that it will work but it still failed.
The only way to get them working is to start another konsole window from the original one by typing "konsole&". Do I need to do anything to have bash source my .bashrc when I start konsole by just clicking on the icon?

Thanks.

Thanks folks but I got the problem solved myself. It is as simple as remove the option "--ls" from the command "konsole --ls" in the launcher.

You could put it in ~/.bash_profile and leave -ls, too. I think that's the only point of the two files - profile is sourced for logins and rc isn't, but is sourced for interactive, non-login shells. And I've had some systems with a ~/.bashrc-private, as well. Not sure what that one's about.

Could be wrong about all this, though.

nope, you're right digi ... at least the
man bash
says so ;)

I usually make a .bashrc and .bash_login,
where all .bash_login does is to source
.bashrc ;)

Cheers,
Tink
