Backup Utility *frustration setting in*

I am looking for a way to back my entire harddrive to cd's that can be restored.. I have tried several apps but none of them have worked for me..

Tried Dar using the command line and Kdar gui.. no luck.. always hangs making the 'slices' aka .bzip files

Mondorescue would also have errors.. once at 99% ... blah!!!

partimage - apparently does not suppose 2.6 kernels yet.. I have no idea what that is all about

Is there another app I can try that anyone knows of?? I just want a few simple disk to be able to put everything back as it is now if something bad should happen :)

some info:
toshiba laptop
2.6.10
slack current
partitions = / /home and /usr
hardrive is using about 5 gigs of 20

thanks for any help

you could still run it from a 2.4 live cd in that case...
