In the default complete installation of Slack 10 there is a directory /opt/kde/share/wallpapers/ that contains a collection of background images. Are there any more directories that contain a collection of images that can be used for desktop backgrounds? Does the default installation of GNOME include any?
This is a difficult thing to search for because the filesystem is enormous and some of the different branches are confusing. I hope this question isn't too trite for this forum, it may be better asked in newbie but it is kind of a distro-specific question.
There are no more That come with KDE, GNOME has a similar directory, but if your looking for more background images, you should try KDE look and download some.
