Audiogalaxy - Slackware

Hello all, I've searched around and can't find the answer. Is there a way to get the audiogalaxy music server to run in slackware? Is wine the only way to run it?

Sorry I'm still very much a newb and am trying as hard as I can to figure this out on my own. Thanks in advance

Let's turn the question around.

There must be open source alternatives to this windows-only audiogalaxy stuff.

What do you want to achieve? Do you want a centralized music streaming server that plays from a single collection of audio files, where several client programs (audacious, mpg123, winamp, vlc, ...) can tune into? I.e. a kind of Internet Radio?
Or do you want to setup a local music sharing server where everyone can download/play the music that's stored on other people's collections? I.e. file-sharing?

Didn't even think of that. I use it to stream music to my android. I've been using google music, but it takes so long to start playing. I think I'll try to set it as a sever, and that way I can share with my xbox

There are several ways to stream your music collection to an Android phone.

Personally, I run Icecast on my LAN Server at home and then use the "A Online Radio" android app to tune into my Icecast stream.

But there is also MPD as a server with MPDroid as the remote-control for MPD that can also stream the music, and XBMC as the server with the "XBMC Remote" app that can remote-control the server as well as stream the music.

Undoubtedly there will be many more - open source and without license cost.
