audacity and libwx-gtk

On running audacity from linuxpackages I get:
audacity: error while loading shared libraries: libwx_gtk-2.4.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
locate cannot find anything like this.
Any idea what the library is that I need?

according to http://rpm.pbone.net

wxGTK and wxGTK-devel are the rpm's that provide what you want

slackware doesn't come up in the list of distros with this package available
so you might need to get the source and compile

Why not check the Audacity website. Look under 'Linux/Unix' and it provides links to all required software, including the wxWidgets.

Enjoy!

The wxwindows source is already up to v2.5.1. Looks like some symlinking may be needed

The wxGTK package from linuxpackages works ok, I'm not sure about the difference between this and the wxGTK2 package also available though.

The sources compile very nicely on a stock 9.1 install.

go to www.linuxpackages.net

search for wx (packages)
There is wxBase and wxGTK. I installed both. Audacity works well with it.
Even compiled with no error.
Checkinstall works a charm.
