Question Audacious & WMA

Is it just me who can't play .wma files in Audacious? It says there's no decoder found. I've tried reinstalling it and audacious-plugins.

You probably need to install ffmpeg and then rebuild audacious-plugins.

My ffmpeg supports WMA (and mplayer can play it fine):

Code:
$ ffmpeg -codecs | grep -i wma
ffmpeg version 1.0 Copyright (c) 2000-2012 the FFmpeg developers
built on Oct 7 2012 15:21:27 with gcc 4.7.1 (GCC)
  configuration: --prefix=/usr --enable-gpl --enable-nonfree --enable-libmp3lame --libdir=/usr/lib
  libavutil 51. 73.101 / 51. 73.101
  libavcodec 54. 59.100 / 54. 59.100
  libavformat 54. 29.104 / 54. 29.104
  libavdevice 54. 2.101 / 54. 2.101
  libavfilter 3. 17.100 / 3. 17.100
  libswscale 2. 1.101 / 2. 1.101
  libswresample 0. 15.100 / 0. 15.100
  libpostproc 52. 0.100 / 52. 0.100
D.A..S wmalossless Windows Media Audio Lossless
D.A.L. wmapro Windows Media Audio 9 Professional
 DEA.L. wmav1 Windows Media Audio 1
 DEA.L. wmav2 Windows Media Audio 2
D.A.L. wmavoice Windows Media Audio Voice
According to the Audacious web site and wiki page, WMA support is in there by default already. I don't even think the plugin package need be installed (although it is).

Audacious 3.2.4 on Slackware 14.0 is playing WMA well. I've rebuilt this version from source with a tweaked SlackBuild, and against a full-blown set of multimedia libs and tools. I have yet to encounter an audio format that's not being handled.

Both of the replies so far have alluded to rebuilding Audacious and/or its plugins. I am wondering if WMA in Audacious ought to work out of the box, as it comes with Slackware, like its home and wiki pages suggest.

no, because its homepage probably supposes that <world> out of the box has ffmpeg installed by default, but this is not the case.

so if you want WMA support, you will have to rebuild audacious-plugins over a version of ffmpeg that supports itself WMA decoding installed.

You and Speek were right. I recompiled audacious-plugins. Its configure output didn't say anything about supporting WMA, but it did say 'ffaudio' support was enabled, which is, apparently ffmpeg, so whatever ffmpeg supports, I suppose Audacious now supports!
