Reading through this thread helped me:

I found a gtk3 theme I liked and placed it in: ~/.themes

And created ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini with the following:

gtk-fallback-icon-theme = gnome

So as root I did:

And I can now open a file and add files to the playlist without issue.
I then had to find/configure a gtk3 theme for audacious as the default is ugly.

I 'm shure has to do with the codification (UTF-8).

Just switched to UTF-8. Audacious it's working with no problem so far. thx
