ATI Graphics Card and Rendering Linux Vs. ATI

I have an 9800 ATI Graphics card installed and i have downloaded the right drivers from ATI and installed on my lInux box. Seems to work perfect even has an acceleration of 240x with glx wheels. I am planning to completely remove my windows partition because i need some space for better things.

Now here is my fear i downloaded some demo grahics from ATI and i run one on windows (ATI Lava caves) and the other on Slack (demo resides on FAT partition). The graphics on windows is really amazing but it seems to me that ATI suckers the Linux community because it does not look good on linux not even comparable but the grahics in Linux are excellent but this ATI video is not really a hollwood stuff..

If you want to save space, why don't you just cut all the fat from windows and then shrink the partition. I am using a dual boot Windows XP/Debian system on a laptop with only a fifteen gig hard drive. I've managed to shrink my c:\windows folder to right around 1.0 gigabyte (after SP2) by doing the following:

Turning off system restore on all drives.
deleting i386 (You can find all those on a cdrom or on the internet)

deleting servicepackfiles

deleting all folders that begin with $ which contain old files that could be restored (be sure to

deleting the appropriate keys in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\uninstall also)

deleting a backup copy of microsoft interactive training

deleting system32\dllcache


Or you could always get a second hard drive for windows.

He means hidden files and folders here.
Go to control panel click on tools and select options. I think its the second tabbed folder.
Select a tick in the box at 'Show hidden files and folders'
Then go to your c: drive and / or other Win drives you use. Commence deleting the translucent folders with the $ in front of them.

Allthough in the end I hope you will delete the whole thing (hidden and non-hidden, FAT and NTFS)...
