ATI driver, fglrx - FATAL: Error inserting fglrx
Just downloaded and installed the latest driver from ATI's website.
Please note: I have not run "aticonfig --initial" yet.
At the end of installation, installer said there are errors - check the /usr/share/ati/fglrx-install.log
The fglrx-install.log asked:
- recreating module dependency list
- trying a sample load of the kernel modules failed
FATAL: Error inserting fglrx (/lib/modules/220.127.116.11/kernel/drivers/char/drm/fglrx.ko): Operation not permitted [QUOTE]
Also, running "lsmod|grep radeon" gave me nothing.
Look like radeon module is not loaded.
hi , have you installed the drivers on init 3 ? and you have installed kernel-modules-18.104.22.168-i486-2.tgz and kernel-modules-smp-22.214.171.124_smp-i686-2.tgz ?
sorry my bad english
Installed drivers as root.
kernel-modules-smp-126.96.36.199_smp-i686-2.tgz are installed, but kernel-modules-188.8.131.52-i486-2.tgz are not.
Should I install the standard kernel-modules package as well?
You may run ./make_install.sh as root as well.
what was the fix for this?
