ATI and Custom Kernel Question.

I have an ATI x700 Pro and I can install the fglrx driver from ATI with the huge26.s kernel installed from the cd...However when I compile a custom kernel I can't install the driver. Is there something specific I need to compile into the kernel for me to install the driver?

I've never run into that problem and I always use a custom kernel. I'd suggest that you carefully go back through the config for your kernel and make sure you're compiling in everything you need.

Check weather all libraries(e.g. glibc) required if proper. Mostly it will be.
You may require agpgart module if your kernel is compile with CONFIG_AGP flag on(which is default on).

On ATI website support is also available.

I noticed the difference is the huge26 kernel uses alot more modules then my custom one....one of which being agpgart...I will try that next.

It's almost certain that you need agpgart.

It's far better to compile additional modules that you don't need (they won't be loaded if you don't need them) than to leave out something that you do need.

I installed teh agpgart module and the driver installed fine. I enabled DRI and with glxgears I get about 5300 fps.
