Asus P5WD2 Motherboard, Serial ATA harddrive help with installation of Slackware 10.2
 

hi everyone

I have an Asus P5WD2 Motherboard and a Western Digital Serial ATA harddrive. I want to install Slackware 10.2 on the Serial ATA harddrive. I already have windows xp pro installed on one partition of the harddrive and Id like to install Slackware on the other partition. When i want to load the sata.i drivers at boot i understand i am supposed to type in sata.i at the boot: prompt, but what is the SATA harddrive called? is it /dev/sda or /dev/hda? That part is confusing me. IF any of you are familiar with this PLEASE HELP

I don't have a sata drive but I think all you need to do is choose the right kernel from the list. ie the sata.i kernel. the drive I think will be called /dev/sda, assuming it's the first or only hard drive. Or /dev/sdb etc. If you need to set up partitions you would type fdisk /dev/sda when prompted.
