Go to www.distrowatch.com - that will give stats on which distro has the most page hits on that site. It will also give you details of each distro.

As far as actual figures for each distro, historically that has never been available because of the fact that most distros are free (as in no cost) and download figures don't translate to usage figures (because we are free to share our copies).

short answer: no
other answer:
There is no way anyone can gather accurate statistics on the use of linux.
However, there are some effords on the internet that, in a way, try to gather *some* statistics. The only ones I can think of for the moment are: the linux counter http://counter.li.org (please get yourself counted, so there's at least one more slack user in the stats), and distrowatch having a rank of wich distro's page at the site has had the most hits.
But remember, you cannot draw any conclusions from these stats

First, why would you assume that it would be anything else?

Second, remember that the "hit list" only measures the level of interest at distrowatch. Maybe the hordes of Slackware insiders never go to distrowatch.....

Maybe it's because people are being "frugal" and once you download it you hate to see anything that good thrown away or updated. But there's always the "insane" ones who just have to have the latest and greatest.

Hi,

FYI, look at Distro Timeline Chart which was linked in 'Slackware-Links' which was compiled from 'Slackware LQ Suggestions Links!'.
