I've installed KDE 4.3.1 and, so far, all but one of the problems I've was having with 4.2.4 have disappeared.

Not cool. K3B is not working with kde4.3.1 library. It just hangs at 100% and stays that way for minutes. I tried burning an ISO image on a Blank DVD and it burnt till 100% within 14mins and then stayed that way for 30mins. Then I thought my DVD or ISO maybe corrupt so I tried burning it on a DVD-rw, same thing. So I switched to windows and tried burning and it worked. Can anyone please check this out with a DVD-rw?
Did you try to use your burned DVD? I am asking, because: Here it hangs at 99%, but after stopping the burn process manually, all my burned DVDs and CDs worked just fine, so far.
My conclusion is that it is not a problem of the burn process as such, but just one of the GUI not being synchronised with the burn process precisely enough, but it's just a guess.
I can use the DVD, thanks gargamel I almost threw it out. However its still a problem. The CD keeps on rotating after burn process 100% completed in an infinite loop. This is definitely an issue. Not many people will like the idea of manually interrupting a burn process and ejecting the CD. In my case I had to reboot the system to get the CD out since the tray was locked.

Oh, I hope so! They are running beautifully and 4.3.1 is, by far, the best version of KDE 4.xx I've used yet.
Of course, now that I've got it installed, 4.3.2 will be release tomorrow or the next day.

I made this list of packages... it was a real pain in the *** to make this. Just save it as a plain text file, then run wget --input-file=yourfilename in the dir where you saved the file, it will download them all to that dir (unless you configured wget a default dir)
Use wget -r http://cardinal.lizella.net/~vbatts/...ges/4.3.1/x86/ and You'll be happy not to write such files all day long, Dude
See the manpage of wget for more useful commands of recursive downloading. It works, if the server serve directory indexes, and most apaches do

I have to add a note to this^
while kde 4.3.1 solves some problems on my pc it opens others on my laptop.
and a view funny things also, like
where have the option to enable/disable sounds for login logout gone?
I was able to turn off sounds for log in/out with 4.2.?, but I can't find the options for this in kde 4.3.1
but in realty this isn't funny any more.

I think I better begin to use something else than kde.
En/disabling the sound for logging in/out (among other things) can be set at System configuration --> Notifications --> System notification --> Applications --> Event source --> etc...
BTW, the words can be slightly different, because my KDE is in Dutch, but you'll probably find it.
