If you right click on the desktop, ensure the widgets are unlocked.
once you do that, is it gone from the panel as well?
can you post a screen shot?
What I am saying is the option for desk top effects in system-settings >
desktop > all effects section is now missing sphere and cylinder I will check the scripts to see if there was some broken symlinks.

Little back ground fresh install of linux updated to current then Installed your packages. Everything works great. but we lost some links to kde modules sphere and cylinder. I have cube and all the other effects though.

thank you for your work

It has come to my attention that some packages don't get upgraded but instead they install side by side with the Slackware ones for some reason. Those are at least phonon, PyQT & sip. Is that on purpose?

again this is intended for -current. right now the phonon in current is the latest. as for the other two, they following versions are available at http://cardinal.lizella.net/~vbatts/...ackages/4.3.2/
  • x86_64/sip-4.8.2-x86_64-1_vb.txz
  • x86_64/PyQt-4.5.4-x86_64-1_vb.txz

Take care,

as for the sphere and cylinder effects, mgraesslin from #kwin informs that those two effects were merged with the cube effect.

Take care,

it is the the plasma addons that is not building something. I built kde 4.3.2 from source again. You will find kdebindings has some issues everything built nice and is running good there is a small cache problem.problem in dolphin build that has caused a couple of jitters.
as far as this

well I guess you and I need to learn how to configure it. Because there was no options I could see in the code.
4.3.2 is very stable much lighter feeling than 4.2.
I will ask around how the custom builds are getting the other effects to be in the settings.
And Vbatt you and I have compiled it twice in the last few days so you know what I mean.

What do I need to get from -current to run 4.3.2, I've never tried updating to -current before, do I just get everything and upgradepkg or is there a specific list of things that have changed or a shortlist of just whats needed for kde4.3.2?

hmm...x86_64 means they are 64bit packages, [only for 64bit slack13]...alternatively u can get the 32bit packages.

OK, I always understood x86 as the 32bit and x64 as the 64bit so that naming convention threw me off.

go to your /etc/slackpkg/mirriors and edit it I use
http://slackware.mirrors.tds.net/pub...are64-current/
now do a slackpkg update slackpkg upgrade-all then do a slackpkge install-new to be sure.
then do it runs smooth.

Looks like the only thing it needs is the upgraded QT, the mirror I chose couldn't find any of those packages so I just went and got the QT package from a mirror and dropped it in the directory I made for the kde4.3 packages and installed everything. So far everything is working fine. Thanks for the packages vbatts.

According to the changelog the updated qt is compiled against an upgraded version MySQL, which in turn requires some upgraded stuff.

But as long as you don't use MySQL, it should work. (I haven't tried it, but that's what I concluded from reading the changelog).

I think the only thing that uses mysql is that new backend for korganizer/kontact. I'm still using a .ics file there.

I did find new packages for firefox and thunderbird on the -current and upgraded those and lost adobe flash and can't find the package for it
