Did you install it on slackware64-13.0 or slackware64-current. I am gonna go with 13.0 since you got the BWSON (Big White Screen of Nowt/Nothing). KDE-4.3.2 is compiled against -current's qt-4.5.

FWIW, and for those who don't know, cardinal is the box that I co-own with Alan Hicks, /dev/rob0, AthlonRob, Fred Emmott, and a few others have accounts on there (XGizzmo, vbatts, Chess Griffin, PiterPUNK, alienBOB). Batts has root on cardinal, so that should tell you a bit about how trustworthy he is. :-)

the 4.3.2 packages are uploaded now for i686 and x86_64 to http://cardinal.lizella.net/~vbatts/kde/kde4-packages/ and rsync://cardinal.lizella.net/vbatts/kde4-packages/

there's a bit of a README as well

Vbatts,
Thank you very much for taking the time to compile these KDE packages. Your efforts are greatly appreciated!

Edit in: I should qualify this and say the 4.3.1 packages run beautifully,
but since I'm using Slackware64 "stable" the 4.3.2 packages are not useable as they were built for 'current.'

Are there KDE-4.3.2 packages for Slackware-13.0 -stable? So long as I can see these packages are for 13.0 -current and there are problems if run on -stable.

Regards,

Martin

4.3.1 is still running trouble-free on 13.0 (stable). Thanks, vbatts.

if you right click on the desktop, ensure the widgets are unlocked.
once you do that, is it gone from the panel as well?
can you post a screen shot?

Vbatts,

Great work on the packages! I installed the KDE 4.3.1 packages for Slackware 13_x86 this weekend and they work fine.

Warm regards,

Weren't KDE 4.3.x versions supposed to need policykit etc? Or it was just decided by AlienBOB to include em in Slackware along with that (future) update?

KDE-4.3.2 doesn't require PolicyKit, it just recommends and utilizes it. as for the work alienBOB has been doing, is a bit more involved and there is no new updates on that until it happens

Take care,
