App Installing


Hi, really sorry with this nooby question...

but how do u install an application?

i cant figure out wat to do...

i downloaded AMSN for slackware 10.

what do i click on afterwards?

i tried double clicking /install/doinst.sh but it dont install nuffin :S

soz but i made it work with knoppix but dunno how to install on this.

well make sure the package ends in .tgz. Then go to the terminal and su to root. cd to the directory that contains the package. then type pkgtool. It will ask you to install each package in that directory, pick the one you want. or type installpkg packagename.
