Anyone able to get evolution to work?

Running latest slackware, everything updated via swaret. However, when I load evolution, I get:

Code:
evolution: error while loading shared libraries: libgtkhtml-3.0.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
The version I have is libgtkhtml-2.4.0-i486-1. I tried updating with swaret but it doesn't appear to exist. Can't find it at linuxpackages.net either. Has it not been updated in slackware current? And what should I do..

You'll need to install it from source and can get it from:

ftp://ftp.ximian.com/pub/source/evolution/

Its usually really hard to find. I had trouble finding it myself until I went to the source...

You mean install evolution or libgtkhtml from source?

Get libgtkhtml-3 and install it by source.

That link posted will take you to the ximian site where they have all the packages needed by evolution. Those you can find that are slackware packages ( tgz's ) you can install using pkgtools. But libgtkhtml-3 isn't available in that format yet, so you'll need to install it by source.

Install all other packages first and then evolution and you shouldn't have any problems.

But to tell you the truth, I had less problems when I installed evolution and all of its packages by source rather than some by source and other as tgz's.

Cheers.

Oh, if you run into any problems, might want to also check this thread out where one of our members posted their Success Story and directions in getting Evolution installed on Slackware:

Installing evolution in salck is really easy. Go to linuxpackages.net and follow the instrucions. In short: 1. install slapt-get, 2. edit the source list to include linuxpackages, 3. install: slapt-get --install evolution.

That's all there is to it to get a good working latest version.
