Arrow Any issues seen with MariaDB 10.0.2 here?

Slackware -current is shipping mariadb-5.5.30 at the moment. MariaDB 5.5.31 was released about a week ago, so it's still a little fresh to see it in the Slackware changelog.

An important read, IMO, is HERE. This covers the reasoning behind the version bump to MariaDB 10 and also why there isn't going to be a MariaDB 5.6.

There hasn't been enough coverage, or focus on those points to alleviate some of the confusion surrounding MariaDB's versioning, so I'm hoping that article will suffice until such time that MariaDB 10 is actually shipping in stock Slackware and no one cares anymore about MySQL 5.6.

HERE is some info on MariaDB 10 itself and why you too might find that it is so totally kewl, in light of our switch from MySQL, abandoning yet another product produced by the evil EllisonCo.

Question(s):

I realize it says that MariaDB 10 is, at this time, labelled alpha, but I'd like to hear what people's experiences have been while running it on Slack. Anyone using it in production? Anyone experiencing any issues/oddities? How do you like it? Why (if you have) have you chosen to move to version 10.0.x instead of staying with the 5.5.x series?

Just a straw survey, if you will, which I think might yield some interesting revelations considering alpha might be quite the overly conservative designation at this time.

Your thoughts? Comments?

Kindest regards,

It's not. There are several features in 10.0 which are just not there yet. GTID is continuously improved, XtraDB is missing from 10.0 still and there's probably lots of other new stuff that needs more time. There's nothing wrong with trying it as it already comes with a lot of nice things, but keep in mind that not everything is working fine, which is why it's considered alpha.
