Annoying bugs in Slack 12.2

Just installed the dvd version and was surprised to find a couple of annoying bugs. These may not be down to Slack itself, rather the window managers that are offered. Even so, it does go against the 'rock solid' reputation that Slack has.

1. Fluxbox: Trying to launch Vim from the 'menu > editors' does nothing. That is until you exit Flux and are presented with a mix of Vim and the the Slack prompt. I had to reboot in the end.

2. FVWM2: Entries in the menu for OpenOffice.

There may be more.

Can anyone else confirm the Fluxbox bug in particular?

Thanks.

1) Well, I just checked vim, vi & gvim from Fluxbox and all three worked flawlessly.
I do not use Fluxbox regularly, so I am not an expert...

2) Didn't understand the problem... Are the entries not working, or are you saying that there are entries that shouldn't be there?

1. Small change needed to README.initrd because of /dev/root, command to read
Quote:

mkinitrd -c -k 2.6.27.7-smp -m reiserfs -f reiserfs -r /dev/hda1
Please change to suit your filesystem.

2. Not sure if it is a bug, but pkgtools is still numbered version 12.1

I found something switched the default X pointer to a triangle, not sure what is changing it yet. It can be fixed by issuing something like:
xsetroot -cursor /usr/include/X11/bitmaps/left_ptr /usr/include/X11/bitmaps/left_ptrmsk but then any gtk2 app will inherit the triangle one anyway, tis madness I say :)

You might not be familiar, but the Slackware method is to give you "vanilla" packages. The menu entries you see in Slackware are the default menus that were included with the original source packages. Patrick does not modify those menus to make sure all the programs they list actually exist on the system.

My bug report: Audacious segfaults if you call 'audacious --play' and it's not already running. I reverted to the 12.1 package and it works normally.

There is a mistake inside the installer. I installed Slack, using the package selection (menu/expert).
There I saw in selection D, that the description of the gcc packages contains the wrong version, there is 4.1.2, but Slack 12.2 provides GCC 4.2.4

Confirmed. The maketag shell script in the /d directory lists 4.1.2 rather than 4.2.4.

Yeah, a small cosmetic error, but it installs the correct packages. Don't worry about the version number it shows.

As already mentioned the fluxbox menus are the upstream defaults. Anything run in fluxbox not attached to a terminal will send output to the console from which fluxbox was launched.

I also get a segfault if 'audacious --play' is executed. It does not matter if you are using a fresh user or not.
