If there is no download pending, the program will start fine. As soon as I try to start a download (either by opening an AMZ file or restarting the program after attempting a download), the program crashes saying nothing more than "Segmentation fault".
I'm not sure if you have tried this yet, but take a look at this link. I compiled the boost package from slackbuilds for Slackware 12 and not 12.2. I have not tried using the program though. Make sure you do all the symbolic links.
Hehe. Yeah, that's my blog. One of the 12.2 patches broke it and I really don't know what it is or how to fix it. I thought it was the previous OpenSSL stuff, but changing that didn't help.

Ha! Well...I don't know now! lol I just downloaded a few mp3 from amazon a few days ago. You don't need the software to download them. You only need it if you are going to download full albums.
Any further suggestions? There's some albums I'd like to snag. What would be the best way to try to determine what library is causing the problem? I tried reversing the most recent OpenSSL and glib2 patches but that didn't change anything.
I compiled it once getting through the dependency *hell*, mostly with packages from SlackBuild. Runs great on my up to date slack 12.2 installation. Not sure how to help you out, though. I may still have the config and Makefile for the amazon downloader, would that be of use?

I would think so, but I didn't think that they ever released any source for it.
Not a perfect solution. But I installed the VirtualBox OSE edition and Ubuntu 8.10 virtual machine. I go to Amazon.com in the VM and use the downloader there. I bookmarked a sshfs link to log into the host desktop and transfer the files over. Not too much of a pain.
Amazon doesn't seem to be keeping up the downloader software for Linux. They're getting behind current versions for the distros they do support. I used to use it on my Fedora laptop until I upgraded past Fedora 9.
VirtualBox OSE has several limitations, as the video driver functionality from the Guest additions doesn't appear to be working for me. And you don't have USB or shared folder support. Not a problem if you have some type of file networking setup though.
