I can't answer your questions, but I'm fairly certain tordfurden is swedish for "bag of hammers".
No it's not swedish for "bag of hammers"
To disassemble it in swedish just for fun tord is a name and furd is an real old word (not used since 1850 i think) for "vördnadsfull" or "undergiven" and it means reverent or submissive.
So it's not swedish

I stand corrected.
Even if you're full of it, it's still the smartest sounding post in the entire thread.
Who am I to argue?
--If none of that works, purchase a Handy Allpurpose Multi Matic Electronic Repair tool (H.A.M.M.E.R) from your hardware store, or for more advanced repair options, get a Sychronous Linear Equivalent Distribution of G-force Energy Handy Allpurpose MultiMatic Electronic Repair tool(S.L.E.D.G.E.H.A.M.M.E.R).--
Oh Man, funny stuff........
those who can use Slackware, those who can't use Ubuntu......

Not all those who wander are lost
The old that is strong does not whither
Deep roots are not reached by the frost"

This is great stuff. I can only suggest the original poster (I've forgotten his/her handle... or perhaps the tears of laughter from this thread kept me from reading it to begin with) write to his congressman or representative... if he/she is not a United States citizen, perhaps the United Nations may organize some sort of Geneva type convention to sort this thing out. After all, we can't have some simple, tried and true, completely configurable and stable distribution like Slackware running rampant like this.
Yes, this post must be given the highest priority!!!
The depth of his expertise couldn't be expressed without all three.
Had he not used all three yos, he would have had to . . . I don't know . . . helped someone with an Ubuntu question.
I must respectfully disagree. Since the famous Ubuntu symbol depicts a top view of three, abstractly interlocked humans, three yo's are needed to address any problem. Perhaps this is simply an anomaly or the resulting echo of a single yo shouted in an empty chamber.
There are sure some funny things in this thread so thanks to everyone who contributed to the great humor in here! And it would not have been possible without turducken inspiring the barrage, so thanks to the OP as well!
I was going to post earlier and comment that I had never before seen such a high number of "Users Currently Viewing This Thread" and at the time it was 23 (currently 9)!! Very hot topic! But my ISP booted me just as I hit submit :/
Anyhow, to the OP's credit: I find Ubuntu maddening to try to get anything done with, so I commend the OP for having managed to gain an expert grasp of the Ubuntu Operating System. I simply don't know how to do anything productively with it-- the GUI tools can't/don't do what they seem to claim to be able to do; it overdrives my monitor to some bizarre resolution I've never heard of and certainly isn't native; I can't log in as root; It takes FOREVER to boot up, is slow as heck like Windows even on my Core2, and won't run at all on my laptop OR my firewall machine (both of which run Slackware).. If I ever needed to do some rescuing, I'd sooner install another Slackware somewhere, boot it up, and chroot from there to where the trouble is and fix it, than try rescuing anything with an Ubuntu LiveCD. It's simply beyond me
I wanted to try different distributino, so I tried slackware 12.2.
You came, you saw and you didn't like it. Point is, as you probably have gotten by now, same goes for part of the LQ Community too when reading your posts. You still have a lot to learn. Next time try to work with instead of against your fellow LQ members. I'm officially telling you that you should make an effort to try and fit in and leave the provocative stuff out. If you have any questions about this you're invited to contact me by email.
In closing I'd like to thank those who showed the guts to rise above herd behaviour and open hostility.
The rest should remember you're part of the larger LQ community as well so try to act like it.
Since this thread serves no purpose it is closed.
