ALSA SB16 PnP

I heard that OSS SB16 driver have security problems (can hang the system by single user (KDE-enable-fullduplex). So I decided to switch to ALSA. Previously I did just: modprobe sb. (PnP). What should I do now? modprobe snd-sb16 says, that it can't init module.

Thanks!

Have you dowloaded the alsa drivers, libs, utilities, and oss compatibility packages, and installed them? Or at least installed them from the install cd's?

Have a look at this.

http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc...16&module=sb16

good luck.

Arrow I have alsa already installed

I installed alsa contained in Slackware 9.1, and the examples on these pages are for non-PnP cards only .

What examples on what pages? Since you've already installed alsa, make sure the oss module is not loaded. Next run

alsaconf

configure your card. Then run

alsamixer

unmute your sound and set your default volumes. Then run

alsactl store

to save settings accross a reboot.
good luck.
