alsa problems on sony vaio
Ive recently installed slackware 1.0 on a sony vaio pcg-v505axp and am having trouble getting alsa to function properly. alsaconf detects the card and installs the snd-intel8x0 module. The mixer settings are adjusted, yet i can get no sound. Cds play silently, and playing an mp3 in totem player the first second of sound will repeat 3 or 4 times, and then the program will freeze.
Ive searched quite a bit online for a solution but havnt had any luck. im pretty new to linux and most of it is over my head anyway.
any help appreciated
