ALSA on 2.6.6?

I have an odd issue... (or maybe not so odd)

I run Slackware current, and of course use swaret to be "on top" of things... recently I have updated my kernel to 2.6.6 and I used generic config file.... and it was all working fine until few days ago I downloaded latest Slack updates (mostly KDE 3.2.3 packages)... and new alsa driver... since then I do not have any sound..

When I try to run alsaconf it says:"No supported PnP or PCI card found"... and when I say YES to the probe... it returns the same ..

I have ABIT NF7 mboard with Nvidia integrated sound card... and it was working with i810 module, but I cannot find it in lsmod now....

Just to be sure, I have to ask if my messing around with modprobe&other settings (in order to make my TV card work) can have anything to do with this? All I was changing were bttv and tuner settings...

If those listings can help... let me know and I'll post them here.. they are a bit long... :-)

I had the same problem, but i realized that after upgrading alsa, you have to recompile your kernel

Did you get it from source?

case solved.... :-D

as I like to say to many people... Google is your friend :-D

well since I used generic 2.6.6 kernel config file... I have remembered that there was one alsa driver with it... so whoever is having similar issues.. you have to download this driver:alsa-driver-1.0.5a-i486-2.tgz that can be found on FTP mirrors with 2.6.6 kernel
anyway if you find this driver somewhere else be sure that you find /lib/modules/2.6.6 within tgz....
