ALSA ESD --> no sound, but OSS sound works

I can play music with xmms trough the OSS driver but alsa and esd won't work.
when i try to use them i get a msgbox saying that it can't play sound.

also when i try aplay or esdplay i get: screenshot

i have configured alsa with alsaconf and it detected my soundcard and didn't give me any errors so i don't know what the problem is.
