ALSA & 2.4.27/2.6.8.1,snd.o

Hi.

I recently did a clean install of Slack10. I have it working now the way I want it except that it seems a bit slower than before the new install. So I tried upgrading the kernel only to fail on alsa issues.

As the system boots, it starts up ALSA but says it cannot find the proper sound modules, snd.o.gz. This module is in /lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/sound/acore/ but when I install 2.4.27 kernel, there is no sign of this acore/ folder. I copied the .config file from the install 2.4.26 kernel and used it, with no modifications for the 2.4.27 kernel and still didn't get the correct module.

Do I have to reinstall alsa once I upgrade the kernel or am I missing something else?

Any help would be appreciated.
K

Yep, you should reinstall alsa. Had to do this after each kernel recompile, but it worked fine.
