Well it looks like the latest version will work just fine, as long as you have the compatibility libs before installing wine. I also install openal as 32-bit and 64-bit just in case some games need it, but I don't think it's necessary either.
I hve to start all over again on my SW install, all my notes,etc, are gone. So...

That's one of the reasons that I maintain a system log for each machine that I maintain. Sure a pain but whenever the snake raises it's head then I cut it off by doing a manual search via the pages.
I've got the same problem 'older timers disease', memory fades in an out.
Seriously though I've always used a System(s) Log/Lab Log and even a daily diary when I was still at the LAB. Now, I just use my System Logs to aid.
