Alien Bob's Blog & Mr. Workman's site appear to be Off-line.
As the title says, both Alien Bob's blog,
http://alien.slackbook.org/blog/ and Mr. Workman's web site, http://www.rlworkman.net/pkgs/ appear to be off-line. Alien Bob's for at least 12 hours and Mr. Workman's for almost 24 hours. |
sbopkg.org is offline, too. But I just checked within the last 15 minutes. Don't know if that's related?

They are all the same machine. According to rob0 in #slackbuilds they are aware of it and working on the problem, "Two hard drives in a RAID array died. Stuff that was on the array is being copied to another drive which has room."
|
Yeah, what he said. All of the affected data is of the type that's backed up all over the internet, so recovery is simply a time issue at this point.
In the meantime, here's what's hosted on the machine: http://web.archive.org/web/201305070...ackbuilds.org/ ---------- Post added Jun 21st, 2013 at 21:20 ---------- On a related note, the "green" hard drives blow goats. |

whewwww...I was all set to retreat to the sub-cavern, beneath the sub-strate, under the church of the subgenius....
Figured the nsa had been listening, evil slack, the evilest of the evil linux freetard movement. Good thing, too - I had mistakenly grabbed Abba, instead of Abbey Road, to listen to until the coast was clear. Dancing Queen instead of Come Together - it may have driven me to a buntu of some sort. cheers, |

How about those Western Digital Red drives? Has anyone had positive or negative experience with those? According to WD, they are supposed to be more rugged and reliable than their standard drives.
|
When companies tier reliability into categories I am extremely dubious. Corporate culture is pervasive. If one product is allowed to have poor quality that tends to affect all the other products. I purposely avoid Western Digital and Seagate disk drives. I've had better luck with Samsung and Hitachi.
