Try unplugging hardware. Have you got a printer attached to the parport? It seems to be causing a problem.
|
i don't.
a wireless-lan card is installed. I'm planning to use a wireless-lan on this box. reinstalled it 3-times now. still the same fuzz. cant get to the login screen. |
any suggestions or guides on what should i do about this? really want this to work :(
*help* |
it went ok now. i mean i logged in but...... i dont have any means of connection. the error is triggered by the wireless pci adapter.
|
What is the make and model of the wireless adaptor?
|
its a linksys WMP54Gv2 wireless pci adapter.
|
ok small question. Is this slackware-specific? Could you boot up with a live CD of Ubuntu / vector linux and check if it works there ?

The boot up Issue is fixed. I got it all working now. I have a new problem tho, How can i configure / install a Linksys Wireless-G PCI adapter on slackware 12? help please.. |
Is the linksys working in Mandriva ... thats what I wanted to ask ...
clearly the problem is with the adapter .. if you remove it slack boots up .. I am asking whether the same problem exists in other distros too .. |
2c- sounds probably an IRQ sharing issue, or an MSI issue. sometimes you can overcome this by using a different PCI slot
if you see anything suggesting you try passing the kernel param 'assign-busses' then so so in lilo.conf append="" line. you can try copying your slack entry in lilo.conf and using the 'addappend="pci=assign-busses,routeirq nomsi" It wouldn't hurt to know more about the machine setup too, chipset, lspci -v, lsmod, is MSI supported in your kernel? If the conflict is arising with IRQ7 (where it hangs visibly but not necessarily the problem) you can disable lp with a kernel parameter 'lp=none' I'd try creating a few different lilo.conf entries for each combination of kernel parameters, then run /sbin/lilo plug the card back in and see what works. |
bioe007, topic starter already mentioned that he has fixed boot up issue.
for your wireless card, check there: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=3514712 Most of the steps are also required on Slack. |
