Adobe flash player on slackware 13.0
Hello,
I want to use my webcam for this chat website I found. And when I reach the chatroom, it asks me to click on a button, "Allow" or "Deny" access to my webcam. Well that shows that flash is installed correctly for my web-browser because I dont get the "click here to install additional plugins" message.
But there is a funny thing here. I can click as many times as I wish, and I tried this with two different slackware 13.0 installations, one on my desktop and the other on my laptop, and both do the same, I simply cannot click the "Allow" button, not even with the tab button. I see the window, but I cant seem to be able to click on any option the flash window will give me.
Any clues on how to fix this so I can make my webcam work?
Thanks,
Dumdadum

It worked?
Yeah funny thing just happened. I talk it over with my friend, he refreshes the page, and it worked.
Really weird...
Cause I tried it again, and it wouldnt work. Seems I have to refresh the page many times before that "Allow" button works.

It works in kde
Well, I tried booting the live cd of Ubuntu, same problem, and then fianlly I booted my slackware 13.0 in kde and it worked in kde. So I went in the settings and checked off remember my settings. Then I came back to my gnome-compiz and it works.
I would really like if someone can explain to me why I simply cannot click on the button in my gnome-compiz session. It would be much appreciated to help me figure this out.
Cheers,
Dumdadum

lol idk man, but one thing I do know, you can edit your previous posts rather than make 5 new posts :P don't wanna be rude, but other people will get annoyed by that practice and many places it's against TOS.

This is a problem inherent to flash, and you can't fix it. I've encountered it quite a few times on Windows and Mac machines as well.
It's just random, and you just have to accept it. Not the answer you wanted, but it is what it is.

Hum... not to be rude, but I dont think I want to disclose where I spend my spare time trying to meet new people.
Lets look at this from another point of vue.
I tried it on two websites, and both websites react the same way. So its not a matter of the website I use. It simply doesnt work on any website I try to use my cam on. And that little popup window appears on both websites I use.
I hope that was enough info. (=
Cheers,

Hum... its weird cause my neighbour uses the same websites as me, and he has no problem, works everytime. He run Windows XP.
Like I said, I found a workaround, I go in KDE and enable my cam and go into the settings and check off "Remember my choice". So that way when I log into gnome it doesnt ask me, its enabled already.
If you think that this is just a bug and that there is nothing I can do, well, like you said, I'm gona have to live with it.
Thanks for your reply,
Dumdadum

What browser are you using? I have weird issues with buttons in google-chrome and sometimes in epiphany which comes with GSB. I tend not to have problems with firefox. Also are you using the latest flash player?

Is this the same issue that appears on Youtube? As in, one cannot press the start and pause button when a video appears. I believe this is only a problem with the 64-bit version of adobe flash for linux.
