"adjust date & time" in KDE on slack 9.1 causes crash

hey, im new to slack and just only instaleld it yesterday. the installation all went fine and everything is pretty much sitting pretty right now but only one problem i can see so far. when i right click the clock and select "adjust date & time" it crashes out with signal 11. The command is "/opt/kde/bin/kcmshell clock --lang en_US"

I have no idea if the backtrace will help but here it is for any of you who like to see it!

thanks in advance for anyone who can help me! oh and btw, seeing as your all slackware users. When you come to installing programs do you use the installpkg tool or just use ./configure and make etc? ive tried installpkg for quite a few packagaes now and it doesnt seem to do anything, only takes about one second aswell which is odd...just seems to copy files thats it, or is that all its meant to do? (i cant run the programs after its done in any case which i could if i did the tradition ./configure route)

Well after reading your post i noticed the same thing happens when i opened adjust date and time in kde 3.1

i guess i should have done it first but im like that...but i looked on kde's bug database and apparently the bug had been reported and resolved, so im guessing next version of kde gonna have it fixed

Same problem here. Just ended up changing it in the BIOS settings on boot-up.

I recently installed Slackware and noticed the same thing. Just to try it, I logged out of KDE as a user, and then then back in as root. The date/time adjust worked fine when I was root.

I had the same problem and a cheesy work around is to change the clock to something other then digital. Then it does not crash.

Not sure why your's is still crashing. I have my clock set to Plain and just before I sent this I tested it again and no crash. Hmmmm

im not sure, though when the next kde gets released i think its gonna be solved as the bug reports say fixed on them now

Yeah that did the trick. Changed the clock to analog and the was able to change date/time.

U seemed to be too unsatisfied with kde, but why r u still looking into kde database ? ?
