add compile-time extensions to php built from a package

Hi all,

I've installed PHP from the slackware package, but now I would like to enable some other features in php - should I uninstall the package and build from source, or is there a neater way around extending my installation please?

You have to recompile php, for that, uninstall slackware php package and
download the php sources, take your time when configuring php, it is tedious.

Look at the slackbuild script
http://ftp.belnet.be/packages/slackw...php.SlackBuild

And look for the additional file php.ini.diff.gz in
http://ftp.belnet.be/packages/slackw...t/source/n/php

Code:
./configure --with-zlib=/usr/ --with-mysql --with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs --with-openssl --with-pdflib=/usr/local/include --with-gd --with-bz2 --with-id3
This is the configure string I use for PHP; it configures support for Apache, SSL, MySQL, Gzip/Bzip compression, GD graphic library, and PDF libraries.

(Of course these programs must be installed prior to configuring PHP)

It took me *hours* to get everything in order before I could successfully compile.
