Dear fellow Slacker's,

already being in my second year studying Computer Science in the university,
I no longer have the time to continue developing Slackpack.
However I do not want to see the project fade and die like thousands of other open-source projects/apps out there.

And so I would like to give full administrative access to the project's website and register as project admin in Sourceforge, any of you that maybe interested in continue developing Slackpack in any way you see fit.

(for ex: I was thinking that Slackpack could evolve in a complete package manager solution for every Slackware-based distro out there, using slaptget as its base to resolve dependencies etc..)

Sounds like another interesting project, but I don't think Pat would be interested in another package manager that does automatic dependency resolutions since he's held out this long on adding dependency checks in the current slackware package tools.

Automatic dependency checking and/or downloading is a PITA for anyone NOT able to have a nice fast 'net connection - me being one of those poor SoB's, and there's actually still an awful lot of people out there in similar situations as me or for other reasons just can't get a fat pipe. It's one of two or three reasons I stayed away from Gentoo and others 'nix's like it that have that. I'd never get to do anything online because it'd take months to wait for all the downloading to stop!

I for one hope Pat *never* gets rid of what Slackware has had and still has...it's simple and allows *me* to do what *I* want with packages/packaging. Just MHO.

The lack of dependency checking in Slackware is a strength. Ye Gods, this topic comes up a lot here on LQ. I am perfectly happy with Slackware's package management system as is.
